Free AI Video Maker: What Each Free Plan Actually Lets You Finish

A free AI video maker will let you start a video in minutes. Whether it lets you finish one, and how many, is a different question, and the answer is on each tool’s pricing page rather than its home page. Some give you a small monthly allowance forever, some give you a one-time batch of credits, and some only offer a trial with a card. This article reads those pages, puts the free allowances side by side, and says which free plan suits which kind of video.

Everything below about other tools is quoted from their own pricing pages as of October 2026. Everything about Nichecast is what the product does today, checked on its live site. Free plans change more often than paid ones, so re-read the page on the day you sign up.

What “free” means for an AI video maker

Before the table, three questions decide whether a free plan is any use to you:

The cheapest video is the one you can actually publish, so read the limits before the headline.

The sections below quote each page so you can see the wording yourself.

Fliki: a small allowance that refills

Fliki is the clearest “free forever” offer of the group. Its pricing page says:

Free forever. Upgrade for more credits, longer videos, more voices, and HD exports.

The Free card lists 3 credits per month, “HD - 720p videos” and “Includes Fliki watermark”, and the comparison table puts the free export length at 5 minutes. Its FAQ describes the free tier as letting you “generate 5 minutes of free audio and video content per month.”

That makes Fliki a good free choice for trying text-to-video with voiceover every month, at no cost, as long as a watermark and 720p are acceptable. For a channel you plan to grow, the watermark is the line you will hit first. We cover the paid side in the Fliki AI review.

Revid AI: free credits to try, then a plan

Revid’s pricing FAQ answers the free question directly:

You can sign up without a credit card, and new accounts get free credits to try video generation. A free account can also search viral videos. Regular creation uses the monthly credits that come with a paid plan.

So Revid’s free tier is a test drive plus its viral-video search. It is useful for seeing what its short-form output looks like before paying. It is not set up for ongoing free production. The Revid AI review goes through what the paid plans add.

InVideo AI: no free plan on the pricing page

InVideo’s pricing page lists Basic, Pro and Ultra plans, with Basic at $9 per seat a month billed monthly (“$4 per seat/mo, billed annually”). There is no free tier on that page as of October 2026. If “free” is the hard requirement, InVideo is not the place to start. If a few dollars is fine, Basic is its entry point. The InVideo review covers what the editor does.

Pictory: a trial, not a free plan

Pictory shows a “GET FREE TRIAL” button on every plan rather than a free tier. Its cheapest listed plan is Starter at $29 per month, or $25 a month billed annually. A trial suits someone deciding whether to buy Pictory specifically. It does not suit someone who wants to keep making videos for free. Details are in the Pictory AI review.

Nichecast: five finished Shorts, start to upload

Nichecast’s free plan is 5 free videos to start, once, with no card required. Each one runs the full pipeline: a script written for your niche, a voiceover, captions and a render, and then the finished Short lands in your own YouTube Studio as an unlisted draft. Nichecast never publishes. You review each video and press publish yourself.

That is a different kind of free from the others. You do not get a monthly allowance, and you do not get an editor to play in. You get five complete videos on your real channel, which is the honest test of whether a faceless channel can be fed this way. After that, Pro is $29 a month for 30 videos, or you can buy a one-time pack of 10 videos for $12, and a video that fails is refunded automatically.

There is also a free part with no sign-up at all: the free tools page has a script generator for each niche, from history and true crime to space and personal finance, so you can read the kind of script you would get before you make a single video.

When a free plan is the wrong place to start

A free plan is a sample, and each one samples something different. If you already know you want to edit every scene yourself, the free tier of an editor will tell you more than any generator will. If you have your own footage, a clipping tool fits better than a text-to-video maker; the AI shorts generator guide explains the split. And if you only need one video, a manual route (a script, your own voice and a phone editor) costs nothing and has no watermark. How to make a YouTube Short walks through it.

Free plans are best used to answer one question: would I publish what this makes? Pick the free plan whose output looks most like the videos your channel will post, use it until you can answer that, and only then compare paid tiers.

How to test a free AI video maker properly

  1. Pick one topic you would really post. A test on a throwaway topic tells you nothing about your niche.
  2. Make the same video in two tools. Same topic, same length, so the comparison is fair.
  3. Watch both on a phone, full screen. That is how a Short is watched, and it is where captions and pacing show their flaws.
  4. Check the file you are left with. Is it watermarked, what resolution is it, and is it already on your channel or still in an editor?
  5. Count your own minutes. The tool that needed the least of your time per publishable video is the one to pay for.

If a faceless channel is the plan, the faceless channel guide covers the rest of the setup, and you can start with five free videos when you are ready to see one on your own channel.
