Crayo AI Review: A Clipping Suite With a Faceless-Channel Mode
Crayo AI is a web-based short-form video editor built first for clippers, with a faceless-channel workflow bolted onto a large toolbox. If you cut clips from existing videos, or you run a Reddit-story or split-screen gameplay channel, it is a strong, well-priced fit. If what you want is a finished video that shows up on your channel without you doing the assembly, it leaves more of the work with you than its faceless-channel page suggests. This Crayo AI review reads everything off Crayo’s own homepage, pricing page and faceless-channel page as of September 2026, and says where each claim came from.
We make Nichecast, which competes with Crayo for one of the jobs it does. That is why the last third of this page says plainly who should stay with Crayo.
Crayo AI review: the short verdict
- Best for: clippers, streamer and podcast editors, and channels built on Reddit stories, fake-text chats or brainrot split-screens. Those are the formats its templates are built around.
- Strongest point: breadth. One subscription covers an auto clipper, AI voiceovers, AI images, a voice changer, a face swap, a subtitle remover, a background remover and a YouTube and TikTok downloader.
- Watch for: two usage meters counted in different units, every headline price quoted on yearly billing, and a stated no-refund policy.
- Not included: uploading. Crayo’s own faceless workflow ends at “one-click export, ready to upload”.
What Crayo AI is, as of September 2026
Crayo’s homepage title is “Crayo - The AI Video Editor”. The page leads with “The #1 Clipping Tool” and “Edit Viral Videos With AI”, and it states 3.2M+ users. Its three-step example is a clipping job: upload a file or paste a YouTube or TikTok link, pick one of “15+ viral styles” of subtitles, and generate. A web-based editor sits behind that for manual changes.
The faceless-channel use case has its own page, and it opens like this:
Run a faceless YouTube channel without filming a thing. Scripts, voiceovers, gameplay backgrounds, and subtitles: everything a faceless channel needs, in one place. No camera, no mic, no editing software.
crayo.ai/use-cases/faceless-youtube-channels, September 2026
The workflow on that page has three steps. You pick a niche and script it with the brainstormer. You generate the video by pairing “an AI voiceover with Reddit-story visuals or split-screen gameplay from Crayo’s library”. Then you “Subtitle and ship”, which Crayo describes as “Auto-generated subtitles, one-click export, ready to upload.”
The same page’s FAQ is candid about where the format works: “Story-driven niches thrive: Reddit stories, scary stories, motivation, facts, and gaming.” It also answers the monetization question carefully, saying Crayo gives you original narration and edits per video while “the niche and consistency are on you.”
Crayo AI pricing: what each plan includes
The pricing page opens with “Every plan includes all Crayo tools. Pick how much you create.” Under an “Annual Discount Save 30%” toggle it shows three plans. Every headline figure is the per-month cost of a yearly plan, with the yearly total printed beneath it.
| Hobby | Clipper | Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price as shown | $13/month | $27/month | $55/month |
| Billed yearly at | $160 | $327 | $664 |
| Workflow credits | 250/month | 1,000/month | 3,000/month |
| Export | 2 hours/month | 10 hours/month | 30 hours/month |
| AI voiceover | 30 minutes/month | 120 minutes/month | 180 minutes/month |
| AI images | 100/month | 300/month | 500/month |
| Storage | 25GB | 100GB | 500GB |
| Social tracker accounts | 1 | 3 | 10 |
Figures as published on crayo.ai/pricing in September 2026.
Crayo pitches the tiers by who they are for. Hobby is “For getting your first channel off the ground”, Clipper is marked “Most popular” and is “For creators posting daily and growing fast”, and Pro is “For power users running channels at scale.”
Three things to read before you subscribe
Two meters, in two units
A plan carries both workflow credits and export time, and Crayo’s FAQ defines them separately. A workflow credit “is one video generated by Crayo’s AI. This includes AutoClip, Reddit videos, Fake Texts and more.” An export minute “is the length of video you can generate with Crayo”, with the example that 60 export minutes lets you “generate a 1 minute video 60 times.”
The pricing table then lists export in hours. On Hobby that is 250 credits against 2 hours, which is 120 export minutes. For a channel making one-minute shorts, the export allowance runs out long before the credits do, so export time is the number to plan around. Voiceover minutes are a third allowance on top of both.
No refunds, and credits reset
The FAQ answers the refund question directly: “Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds.” You can cancel any time in settings and the plan stays active to the end of the billing cycle. Another answer adds that “Subscription credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and don’t roll over”, with one-time top-ups kept separate. Since the headline prices are yearly plans, that combination is worth weighing before choosing a tier.
The social tracker is analytics
Each plan lists “Social tracker accounts”: 1, 3 or 10. That is account tracking. Nothing on the homepage, the pricing page or the faceless-channel page says Crayo posts or schedules videos to your channel, and its own workflow stops at the export.
What Crayo AI is genuinely good at
Clipping. This is plainly what Crayo was built for. The homepage testimonials are from clippers, the example workflow is a clip, and it runs a Content Library of live clipping campaigns. If your source material already exists, whether a stream, a podcast or somebody else’s long video you have rights to cut, Crayo is shaped around that job.
Template formats. Reddit story videos, fake-text chat videos and split-screen brainrot videos each get a dedicated generator. For those formats you are filling in a template, and the built-in gameplay library means you do not have to source background footage.
One bill for many small tools. The pricing page lists the voice changer, face swap, subtitle remover, icon generator, speech enhancer, AI brainstorm and downloader in every plan. If you currently pay for several of those separately, consolidating is a real saving.
Ownership. The FAQ says “You fully own the rights to the videos you create with Crayo,” and it supports most languages from the text you provide.
Where Nichecast sits, and why it is much narrower
Nichecast does one of the jobs Crayo does, and does it end to end. You describe a channel once: a niche, a style and any rules of your own. After that each video is written, voiced, captioned and rendered as a 9:16 short, and then uploaded to your own YouTube channel as an unlisted draft. You watch it in YouTube Studio, change the title or thumbnail if you want, and press publish yourself. Nichecast never publishes on its own.
| Crayo AI | Nichecast | |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Clipping, templates and a toolbox | One faceless YouTube channel |
| What you bring | A clip source, a script or a template | A channel description, once |
| Where the job ends | An exported file you upload | An unlisted draft in your YouTube Studio |
| Editor | Web editor, 15+ subtitle styles | None |
| Clipping existing video | Core feature | Not offered |
| Platforms | Anywhere you can upload a file | YouTube only |
| How usage is counted | Credits, export hours, voiceover minutes | One credit per finished video |
| A failed job | No refunds, per Crayo’s FAQ | Refunded automatically |
| Entry price | $13/month on yearly billing | 5 free videos, once, no card |
Nichecast’s pricing is short. The free plan gives 5 finished videos, once, with no card. Pro is $29 a month for 30 videos, cancellable from your account. A video that fails refunds its credit automatically.
That narrowness is the trade. Nichecast has no editor, no clipper, no voice changer and no TikTok export. What it takes off your hands is the assembly and the upload for every video on one YouTube channel. If that is the step eating your week, see how a video gets made. If you want to compare it with the other tools in this space first, our AI faceless video generator comparison and the Crayo AI alternative page go further into the differences.
Who should stay with Crayo AI
- You clip. Nichecast cannot cut an existing video at all. For streamers, podcasters and clipping campaigns, Crayo is the right tool.
- You post to TikTok or Instagram as well as YouTube. Crayo exports a file you can put anywhere; Nichecast uploads to one YouTube channel.
- Your channel is Reddit stories, fake texts or split-screen gameplay. Crayo has a generator for each format and a background library to go with them.
- You like editing. Crayo’s web editor gives you control over every clip. Nichecast offers a retry instead.
Is Crayo AI worth it?
For a clipper, yes, on the evidence of its own pages: the tools are broad, the Clipper tier is priced for daily posting, and everything is in every plan. Read the export allowance rather than the credit count when you size a plan, and treat the yearly price as a commitment, because Crayo states it does not refund.
For someone who wants a faceless YouTube channel supplied without assembling or uploading each video, Crayo gets you to a finished file and stops there. Try Nichecast’s five free videos on your own channel and see whether the unlisted drafts it leaves in your Studio are ones you would publish.
